I think it’s important to remind ourselves that this life is just one copy and it has no duplicate. It isn’t a rehearsal or a drill, no! It’s the real thing and worth giving all your best shots. You have been given this life to live and influence the world, to be yourself and make indelible impacts in the lives of others.
For there’s no point living like you have a spare ‘life’ lying somewhere to be lived later. Don’t die a copy or imitation when you’re born an original, don’t fit in when you’re born to stand out. Our lives take on a new and meaningful direction when we live life intentionally for the right reasons. I have observed and it really amazes me when I see people living their life struggling to be someone else when in reality they are equally gifted and talented in their own right. They abandon what comes naturally to them in pursuit of what is popular and common.
“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
It is futile you know, to play in a field that is not your turf. Why not find out your strength and develop it? Find out what you’re good at and chase it down. Like Ralph Waldo Emerson puts it, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
Living a lie is living your life to please others, for the sake of acceptance and recognition. It is when you trade your credibility and reputation while losing sight of your worth and self-esteem. It is when you embark on living a life of imitation in the bid to live other people’s dream. I believe originality is a key ingredient for success, as the cradle of failure is usually found in the desire to be like someone else instead of staying true to who you really are.
“Originality is a key ingredient for success.” – Sonnie Martins
These things only breed unhappiness, disappointments, dissatisfaction and all the likes. So, it’s in your best interest to live your life happy and fulfilled rather than spend it in fruitless pursuit of being someone else or being accepted by others at the detriment of being yourself. For crying out loud; just be you, be yourself and most importantly be YOUnique!
