Albert Einstein once said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Today, his saying captures the true essence of rethinking our strategies for success by dumping what’s not working for what works. This is very crucial because pursuing and getting stuck with things that have no bearing with your set goals will only lead to gross failure whether in business or your personal affairs.
#1. Your Mind Is An Asset
The mind is a huge asset given to every human; a powerhouse and the faculty of thoughts. It has the capacity to make or mar the outcome of all pursuits. Though a valuable possession yet a highly under-used resource. According to a research on productivity, 70,000 thoughts barrage the human mind every single day. And these thoughts we can largely classify into two major categories; positive and negative. While the dominant category influences the outcome of every given day, in my opinion, 70,000 thoughts avail humans with a massive opportunity to create daily success.
#2. You Are What You Think You Are
Once upon a time in the late 80s, there was a very popular sitcom called Basil & Company. A prominent character named Mr. B existed in the sitcom who had every of his line scripted with the phrase that exemplifies this concept. He would say, “To be a millionaire, think like a millionaire.” Indeed, you are what you think you are or alternatively put, you are who you think you are. The bible explains that “As a man thinks, so is he.” This draws a direct correlation between the mind and what we actually become. If you think you will succeed, yes you definitely will. But, if you think otherwise, by all means, you will too. For the difference between the rich and the poor lies in their thinking – the rich thinks and talks rich while the poor thinks and talks poor. When you diligently stream positive and winning thoughts into the corridors of your mind, you’re bound to become a reference point for success. Because those thoughts will set up in you, a force field of attraction pulling in your direction, everything positive and successful.
#3. What Are You Feeding Your Mind With?
It is foolhardy to think that you can feed your mind with trash and expect from it a sensible outcome. For we all are products of what we feed our minds with. A perfect case of GIGO, a computing parlance meaning garbage in, garbage out. For instance, if you spend your time feeding your mind with pornography and related vices, I bet you won’t be surprised to harvest the negative results of indulging in such activities. Your mind has the capacity to rise to new challenges and accommodate new ideas. And learning something new helps it to stretch and increase your capability to take on more challenging tasks, responsibilities or new innovations. Read healthy books that will shape your thought pattern, materials that will engage your mind, and undertake activities that will challenge your thinking process.
#4. It’s Your Responsibility
James Allen in his book ‘As a man thinketh’, explained that a man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed-seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind. He added that just as a gardener cultivates his plot, keeping it from weeds and growing flowers and fruits which he requires, so may a man tend the garden of his mind weeding out all the wrong, useless and impure thoughts and cultivating toward perfection the flowers and fruits of right, useful and pure thoughts. By pursuing this process, a man sooner or later discovers he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life.
"Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve." - Napoleon Hill
Conclusively, in the words of Napoleon Hill, whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. If you don’t like the results you’re producing, you can do something about it. You can simply change it by re-programming your mind with the right kind of information capable enough to produce good success.
