In this life, your determination to succeed will definitely be challenged at every conceivable level. The minute you make a decision to stand for something meaningful that you believe in or perhaps a decision to make something happen for yourself or for a loved one, things are likely to go wrong.
Therefore, it is critically important to learn the power of persistence, without which you will fall short of where you could be. Walt Disney said and I quote, “All our dreams can come true – if we have the courage to pursue them.”
I once read a story of how on the morning after the great Chicago fire, a group of merchants stood on the state street, looking at the smoking remains of what had been their stores. They went into a conference to decide if they would try to rebuild, or leave Chicago and start over in a more promising section of the country. They reached a decision – all except one – to leave Chicago.
The merchant who decided to stay and rebuild pointed a finger at the remains of his store, and said “Gentlemen on that very spot, I will build the world’s greatest store, no matter how many times it may burn down.” That was almost a century ago. The store was built. It stands there today, a towering monument to the power of that state of mind known as a burning desire. The easy thing for Marshall Field to have done would have been exactly what his fellow merchants did. When the going was hard, and the future looked so bleak, they pulled up and headed where the going seemed easier.
“No hurdle is big enough to keep you down!”
Friend, the easiest thing that comes to mind to do when the going gets tough is nothing but the four-lettered word ‘Quit!’ But anyone who has an understanding that good things are not always easy to come-by will stand tall and squarely, shoulder to shoulder with whatever it is that presents itself as a hurdle.
Be it failure at first, second, third or even fourth trial. Be it the lack of funds to launch your own label and business, Or perhaps, the fear of ‘Brexit’, ‘Trump-ism’, Terrorism, Socio-economic crisis, Political instability to name a few. Listen, according to Robert Schuller, “Tough times never last, but tough people do.“
So, when you fall, get up and get going again. That’s one of the keys to opening the door of success. A popular slogan says ‘Winners don’t quit and quitters don’t win.’ No hurdle is big enough to keep you down!
“When you fall, get up and get going again.”
In summary, hold on to your vision for a future of success and greatness. In time, those dreams will materialise, for the secret of success is simple – never, ever, ever give up!
