I once attended an interview where the hiring managers asked me to tell them one thing that differentiates me from every other candidate lined-up for the role I was interviewing for. So, I paused and thought for a second. Then, I said, “I’m an asset!” And they said, what do you mean? With a smile on my face I replied saying, “In every team and organisation that I have hitherto worked, I have always brought immeasurable value to the table and your team and organisation isn’t going to be an aberration.”
Hey folks! Where on earth did that come from? Well, to be very frank with you, it came from the wealth of the knowledge of who I am. A living consciousness and understanding of what I carry on my inside. A healthy and thriving appreciation of my uniqueness; my talents, my abilities, my skills, my experience, my potentials and self-image. I can go on and on…
“Do you have a clue of what a dynamite you are on the inside?”
But hold on, do you know who you are? Do you have a clue of what a dynamite you are on the inside? Do you know you’re priceless and invaluable to your family, your workplace, your nation and particularly your generation? Well, I guess you’re itching to know if I got the job. Yes, of course! I was hired for the role.
Months later, in an informal gathering, I was having a chat with one of the hiring managers and he said referring to the interview, “Many candidates trip at that junction, but you navigated it with ease and I just knew you’re the man for the job.”
This week, go and flourish. I wish you God’s best and remember not to sell yourself short!
