Lately, I’ve come to realise that strength is not a function of your physical build but a product of the state of your mind. Some people are physically endowed yet weak in their minds. Others aren’t that endowed yet strong in their minds.
The Human Mind is A Battle Field.
You need to understand that the human mind is a battle field and there are loads of things laying siege daily to conquer it. These vices constantly work to dominate, influence and defeat the state of our minds through elements like fear, anxiety, frustration, stress, unhappiness, guilt, depression, ill-health, loss of a loved one, divorce, domestic violence, sexual abuse, financial loss, name it.
They seek to bring us to a state of nervous breakdown.
But it’s your obligation to guard your mind from every mind-intruder; be it physical, spiritual, psychological or even from the social media. Raise the bar in and of your mind!
“Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts.” — Proverbs 4:23 [MSG]
I Almost Lost My Mind.
I remember a time in my life when I almost lost my mind. I was out of employment and my whole world began to fall apart. The bills were towering high, yet my needs were growing in leaps and bounds.
I couldn’t even afford to keep my car on the road because for real I just couldn’t afford petrol, insurance or even the road tax. No dime in the bank only unplanned overdrafts that incurred me the wrath of the banker.
This was a time I was so unsure of where the next meal was going to come from. But in the midst of the challenge, I decided to keep faith and keep my mind intact.
#1. By anchoring my hope and confidence in God.
#2.By replaying in my mind how God had seen me through even worse times.
#3. By making God’s word the final authority over my life and situation.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.” — Proverb 3:5–6 [GNT]
Power Your Mind With The Word Of God
I must confess, it was difficult to see a way out of it all. But in the nick of time, God came through for me. By fixing just one area of my life, every other areas became restored. Such is the confidence I have, that God will come through for you too.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, draw your strength and might from God.” — Ephesian 6:10 [The Voice]
Today, no matter what may be threatening the peace and sanity of your mind…choose not to lose that mind. Draw your strength from God’s boundless supply of strength. Power your mind with the word of God. I can’t tell you enough of that. That’s the secret of staying sane in an insane world of today.
